First U. S. edition. Published earlier in the U. K. as "James Whitaker's Dukedom." Faintly stamped on the dust jacket's front cover "Review Copy, Oct. 2, 1914." Near fine, bright copy in a colorful dust jacket with light professional restoration to spine ends, corners, and extremities. A man, down-on-his-luck, meets his double while hiking through the English countryside and both are simultaneously struck by lightning. Only the former survives and it turns out that his double was a duke! In Hubin. Very uncommon title in early wraparound dust jacket art by John Edwin Jackson.
