First edition. 8 3/4" x 10 3/4" in stiff board pictorial covers with illustration of a young black child being chased by a tiger on the front cover and an illustration of an elephant on the rear cover. (12)pp. Color illustrations on every page. Squash-Boo was told by his mother to not leave the garden but he decided that he had to have some coconuts so off he went into the forest, only to meet a very hungry tiger. Upon seeing the tiger Squash-Boo screamed and began to run. A friendly elephant heard his screams for help and quickly lifted the boy onto his back. The tiger realized that there was no way that he could get the boy so he roared and walked off. The friendly elephant carried Squash-Boo home, warning him to not disobey his mother again. Pages lightly tanned and with light soiling to covers and light wear to corners, rubbing to spine and with light wear to extremities. Very good. Rare.
