An 8"x8" Poster/Mailer printed on stiff paper stock. Light tan. Identification Order No. 1217 March 12, 1934. Dillinger's alias, Frank Sullivan is named. Includes his fingerprints, his physical description, a combined photograph of the front and side views of his face (2.5"x1.5"), and a copy of his signature. Criminal Record is an extensive list of crimes committed and time served in various prisons, and crimes for which he was currently wanted. Director, J. Edgar Hoover states on the poster: "If apprehended, please notify the Director, Division of Investigation, U. S. Department of Justice, Washington, D. C., or the Special Agent in Charge of the Office of the Division of Investigation listed on the back hereof which is nearest your city." On verso the 30 Division offices are listed. Poster is produced so that it can be folded in half and sent via mail. Four months after this poster was issued, John Dillinger was shot and killed by local and federal law-enforcement officers outside of the Biograph Theater in Chicago. A scarce and significant record of this major criminal from the Gangster Era! Quarter-inch closed tear at bottom edge, else in fine condition.
