7 7/8" x 4 7/8" typed letter dated December 6, 1900, to Chester O. Lord, Esq., / Secretary / The Lotos Club / New York. The letter is in acceptance to an invitation to attend the Lotus Club dinner on the evening of December 15, 1900 to honor the Chinese Minister to the United States. He also says that as to him making remarks if called upon, they must be very short and prompted by whatever may have been said before. Also included is a 4 5/8" x 3 5/8" photograph of General Miles in uniform with the inked words "Gen. Nelson A. Miles printed on the back. The photograph is in fine condition and the letter has a horizontal fold crease in the center and is also in fine condition.
