Publication: Privately published by L V McWhorter, 1937, Yakima, Washington
First Edition. Printed Wrappers. [45pp.]. Frontispiece. Illustrations. 2-page folding Map. Introduction by H. D. Guie. The first telling of the killing of Major Andrew J. Bolon, agent to the tribes of central and eastern Washington Territory. Agent Bolon was killed by a group of supposedly friendly Yakimas; a deed that precipitated the Yakima war of 1855-56 and was the beginning of general Indian hostilities throughout a great part of Washington and Oregon territories. The few Indians who participated in the killing never talked about it, until Su-el-lil, better known as Yakima George, aged Klikitat medicine man and the last survivor of the affair, told his friend, Lucullus V. McWhorter the details of the killing. This very scarce work precedes McWhorter's better-known works about the Nez Perce and the Nez Perce war. Some wear along the spine and some light soiling. A very good copy. Signed by McWhorter on front free-endpaper. At the time of publication, L. V. McWhorter was Curator Washington State Historical Society, Life Member Wisconsin Historical Society, and Charter Member American Military History Foundation.
