Publication: Coward-McCann, Inc, 1938, New York
First U. S. edition. Author's first book. Fine, bright copy in dust jacket lightly soiled on the rear cover, small, creased, closed tear to top edge of rear cover, light wear to the spine ends, and with a few minor nicks to the extremities. Cheyney's first novel introduces Lemmy Caution, a tough American G-man who narrates his own adventures in the present tense. Lemmy Caution appeared in several more novels as well as a handful of short stories and radio dramas. Cheyney's inspiration for Lemmy Caution was primarily due to the work of Carroll John Daly, Robert Leslie Bellem and to a lesser degree, Jonathan Latimer. An attractive copy of a very elusive title.
