First Edition. Cloth. 166pp. Profusely illustrated with photographs taken by Hillers. An interesting account of the various western adventures of John K. Hillers and an excellent presentation of his photography. As a boatman on the 1871 Colorado River expedition of John Wesley Powell, Hillers quickly learned the photographers art. As a participant in several exploratory expeditions, Hillers produced hundreds of striking images from his travels to Southern Utah, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, the Pueblos of the Southwest, and Indian Territory. Hillers was known to the Indians as "Myself in the Water". Light crease to the lower fore corner of the last 10 pages due to a previous owner's carelessness in closing the book.
