Publication: Privately printed by E A Brininstool, n d (circa 1923), Los Angeles
Second separate printing # "Gift Copy" of an edition limited to 250 copies. Gifted "to W. A. Falconer with kind regards of E. A. Brininstool, 1924." Printed wrappers, 15 pp. 3 illustrations (Poe, Billy The Kid, Pat Garrett). Letter from Poe to Brininstool attesting to the accuracy and authenticity of this work is reprinted. "The Only Truthful and Accurate Account of the Killing of This Young Desperado." Poe's story first appeared in Wide World magazine of London in 1919. It was then printed as a first separate by Brininstool in 1922, in a printing thought to be limited to 50-55 copies, with no illustrations. This copy is Brininstool's second separate printing to which he added Poe's letter of March 5, 1923, 3 illustrations, and changed "Death" to "Killing" in the title. The first separate is rare, and this second separate very scarce. Light wear to the spine ends and covers lightly soiled else a very good copy of this very scarce and important, first-hand account.
