Publication: Doubleday, Doran and Company, 1942, Garden City
First edition. The "true" first edition as the U. S. edition precedes the U. K. edition. Review copy with publisher's slip laid-in. Fine, bright, tight copy in lightly rubbed dust jacket, with a tiny closed tear to bottom edge of front panel and a tiny closed tear to top edge of rear panel. There are three long novelettes in this book. Arizona is about a Nazi mining engineer, supposedly in the West for his health among other things. He teaches the Saint the fine art of whipping as practiced in a German concentration camp; however, the Saint has a few things up his sleeve. In Palm Springs, a millionaire playboy and his harem interrupt the Saint's vacation; therefore, he quickly puts an end to some murderous nonsense and resumes serious loafing. In Hollywood, the Saint is scheduled to star in a huge picture about his own life, but unfortunately someone has put a bullet in the producer's head. A Crime Club mystery.
