Publication: Powder River Publishers, 1954, Laramie
First, unexpurgated edition. Cloth, 277pp., illustrated, index. "A thorough study of the trial and execution of Tom Horn...A threatened law suit required the author and publisher to rewrite and replace seven pages of illustrations and text after the volume had been printed and bound, but before it was released. These changes were made by cutting out the deletions and tipping in new sheets. The text pages of 13 and 54 were changed as well as several of the illustrations." Laid into this copy are the seven substituted pages. Horn was famous as a scout against the Apaches, fought in Arizona's Pleasant Valley War and was a Pinkerton detective before he allegedly became a hired killer of rustlers and homesteaders for the big cattlemen of Wyoming. This is the definitive work on the subject. The rare unexpurgated edition. Fine in dust jacket with 2" closed tear to top of front wrapper.
