First edition. 10 3/4" x 7 1/2" in sepia-colored pictorial wrappers showing a photo of Gus Peret on his home ranch in Yoncalla, Oregon, and an advertisement for Pack Saddle & Pack Bags, No. 6 on rear cover. [8] pp. including wrappers. Catalog mailed originally to George C. Oldham, Denishon Hotel, Denison, Iowa. Very scarce western saddle and leather goods catalog. Catalog features the Mexican-Style holsters, some with elaborate stamping, shoulder holsters, Lawrence Cartridge Case, gun scabbards, rod cases, rifle cases, leathered fishing creels, and Handy Andy saddles. In 1857 Charles P. Bacon, William Sherlock and Samuel Sherlock founded The Samuel Sherlock company in Portland, Oregon. In 1876 George Lawrence became the manager of the company and in 1893 had purchased the entire business and renamed it the George Lawrence Company. The company was a saddlery and harness shop, made famous by also producing exquisite leather goods such as handgun holsters, cartridge belts, slings, etc. When Lawrence purchased the company it was located in a 25' x 100,' 2-story building and had 12 full-time employees. By 1905 the company one-quarter block and four stories. The George Lawrence Company employed over 250 mechanics through WWI. After the war the company expanded into importers & jobbers of shoe findings, shoe store supplies, automotive supplies, leather suitcases, trunks and bags. Center crease as issued. Minor edgewear, rubbing, and soiling along with minor rippling and light water stain. Still very good.
