Publication: Grosset & Dunlap, Publishers, 1978, New York
First edition. Cloth. Illustrated throughout with photographs by Jonathan Blair, as well as historical photographs. Facsimiles. Maps. In October 1975, actor Robert Redford and 8 companions traced, by horseback, the old "Outlaw Trail," winding from Montana through Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and into Arizona. Financed by National Geographic Magazine, the group visited ghost towns and old hideouts of Butch Cassidy, the McCarty Brothers, and others. Discussions with today's ranchers are woven with the history of the west and its outlaws. Interesting read. A clean, bright, tight copy in a couple of minor creases and a single half-inch closed tear at bottom edge of spine. Nice copies of this first printing have become quite scarce.
