First edition. Near fine in dust jacket with light restoration to lower portion of front panel. Catalogue of Crime 2590 says "..... this is Odlum's penultimate tale. A pair of private eyes, Jimmy Webb and Sam Booker, get fooled into investigating the disappearance of a wife, beautiful and clever, who has married any number of men and in various ways got money out of them. Three people are killed in quick succession and Sam is made to seem the killer." Filmed as A SCREAM IN THE DARK in 1943 by Republic Pictures with George Sherman as Director and Anthony Coldeway and Gerald Schnitzer as screenwriters. The author wrote six mystery novels and three were made into movies. He was born in Minneapolis in 1905 and died in Hollywood in 1954. He also served time in prisons for bad checks and forgery.
