Publication: A Abott, Publisher, 1908, Sulphur
First edition. Publication date on title page is 1908, but two letters on the obverse are dated 1909. 6 3/4" x 5" in tan gray pictorial wrappers. 153pp. Illustrations. A collection of tales that appears to be an autobiographical in nature and written by a Chickasaw woman. Precedes "The Half-Blood," by Mourning Dove -- identified by Larson as the earliest novel by a Native American woman ... by nearly twenty years. This booklet, "is an Indian-Paleface love story of Sulphur Springs and Platt National Park, telling of the country's unusual history, romance and opportunities." On front free fly leaf is light inscription of previous owner. Wear to head and toe of spine along with light bumps to corners. Last 20 pages have light staining along top edge. Very good. Uncommon.
