Nidever took part in the famous Battle of Pierre's Hole, July, 1832 and accompanied Joe Walker to California in 1833. Remaining in California, he joined George C. Yount in hunting sea otters for their valuable fur. In 1846, Nidever served as interpreter for John C. Fremont in Cahuenga at the treaty signing. Nidever lived the rest of his life farming, ranching, and hunting sea otter in California. An important book, and increasingly scarce. A fine, bright copy
