First edition. 12mo..Brown cloth, titles stamped in gilt on the front cover, 164 pp., preface, illustrated, maps, portraits, plates, some in color, appendices. This early Burdick work on the battle of the Little Big Horn is now scarce. Also contains a biography of David F. Barry, noted early-day photographer of famous Indians, frontiersmen, and soldiers who participated in the Custer Battle. All of the photographs contained in this volume are genuine and authentic Barry photographs, many of them being here published for the first time. "An outstanding book in which Burdick insists Custer had a plan of attack and refuses to be harsh on Custer, Reno or Benteen. He credits Sitting Bull for the Reno and Benteen command not being finished off before the Indians left the field."--O'Keefe 269. A very important Luther High Spot in clean, bright, near-fine condition.
