First edition. 10 1/2" x 7 1/4" color party game carton that contains three leaves of advertisements and instructions, six printed envelopes containing two printed photo evidence pieces within, envelope for verdict, and [4 pp.] case information, one pad of Juror's ballots (a few used), all contained within the original box, This game was developed by John Post, a famous criminologist of the day. First edition of the first of a series of four such Jury Box games issued by Parker Brothers in the 1930's. These proved very popular and were considered a fore-runner to the modern murder mystery and role-playing games of today. With cases including The State vs. James Platt; State vs. Alyce Dare; State vs. Joseph Hill; State vs. William Crimm; Stave vs. Joseph Munroe; and the State vs. William Pall, these competed with the popular S.S. Van Dine's Philo Vance Great Detective Game also manufactured by Parker Brothers, Inc. An attractive Art Deco cover with light rubbing to a few edges and two small scrapes else a near fine, bright copy with all components present.
