A journal of exceptional value, as unlike Work's other journals which described overland fur trade expeditions, the 1835 journal records a maritime fur trade. Hudson's Bay Company efforts were seriously cutting into the trade of their American and Russian competitors on the northwest coast. The editor's carefully documented study is of great value. Typed transcript of review of this work neatly tipped-in on front pastedown. Hudson's Bay Company, Winnipeg, Canada stamp on front free endpaper. A small discolored spot on lower spine and the internal Hudson's Bay Company stamp leads us to believe this copy was once in a Hudson's Bay Company library in Winnipeg, else a near fine copy.
