First U. K. edition. Former owner's inked name on the front fly leaf, else fine in a lightly rubbed dust jacket with a small closed tear to the bottom edge of the rear cover. The original painting artwork for the dust jacket is by artist William Randell for this Rex Stout title that features Nero Wolfe. This painting done on art board was created by the artist for the first British edition of the title. The painting, itself, measures approximately 6" x 7 1/2," and is matted to an overall size of 10 1/4" x 12 1/4." The accompanying book in dust jacket shows that the publisher changed the background color of the dust jacket artwork from red to green. A terrific striking image with lettering showing a skeleton hand typing keys on a keyboard. Artwork and book offered together and in fine condition.
