First Edition. 8vo. One of 500 autographed copies printed for the author at his expense, each copy numbered, to correct many misleading and distorted stories dealing with the battle of the Little Big Horn. This is copy 10. Cream-colored printed wrappers, 36 pp., frontispiece (portrait of Capt. F. W. Benteen), foreword, illustrated, portraits. Of significant interest is the inclusion of "Comments on the Rosebud Fight of June 17, 1876, by Robert E. Strahorn, War Correspondent for the Chicago Tribune and New York Times." An important booklet as Benteen was not a fan of Custer and his report does much to question Custer's judgment. "The story is from the Seventh Cavalry's senior captain, with his attempts to correct already growing myths about the battle. Brininstool put this version of the battle together using Benteen's Reno Court of Inquiry testimony (about which Benteen later bragged was intentionally misleading and incomplete) and the infamous, bitter Benteen letters to Theodore Golden."--O'Keefe 220. A fine, bright copy of a scarce and important booklet.
