Tall quarto. First edition. Decorated wrappers in gold and black, 206 [1] pp., introduction, frontis., double column, illustrated, plates, portraits. Book is illustrated from original photographs with articles by eleven different contributors. A wonderful photograph of the real Deadwood Stage Coach on its daily run to Spearfish. The photographs are graphic in detail and provide an excellent insight to long ago South Dakota. The numerous articles provide much information about the mines, mining towns, resources, railways, agricultural resources, ranching, etc. Spine panel has old cellophane tape residue, but professionally restored at spine panel, closed tear to top edge of rear panel has been internally reinforced. Overall a tight, clean very good copy of a scarce item, housed in a slipcase with titles on spine panel. Not in Adams' Herd, Decker, Eberstadt, Graff, or Howes.
