The Bannock Indian War of 1878 was the last major uprising of the American Indian in the states of the Northwest against the encroachment of the white man upon his domain. While less than 100 Indians and 50 whites were killed in the skirmishes, the war had a lasting influence in the shaping of Indian policies in the Northwest. All fighting was done in the desert lands of Oregon, Idaho, and on the southern border of Washington. Fine in dust jacket with light wear to the spine ends and a few small chips to the top and bottom esges of the front cover panel.
