First edition. 8vo. This is House Document War Dept. No. 76, 29th Congress, 2nd Session. Disbound, 9 pp. Tate Indians of Texas 2637 says: "A valuable account of Messrs. Butler and Lewis' 1846 council with the Comanches and smaller tribes in north central Texas." Butler and Lewis travelled the region and negotiated a treaty with various tribes at Council Springs in 1846. Medill refers to it as "the best information which has been in the power of this office to procure in relation to the Indian tribes of Texas" in his forwarding letter to the report. Mention of captive Parker children. Surprisingly uncommon and not listed in the usual references. Small chips and nicks to the fore-edge margins and mild foxing else a good copy.
