Contains 6 stories written by Thomas that first appeared in either the Washington Post or in the LA Times. In the introduction Thomas writes, "There is even a short story about Christmas. I have never been comfortable with either the season or the short story form, but the Washington Post kept reprinting the thing on subsequent Christmases until somebody, perhaps the publisher, grew sick of it and the Post, I'm told, went back to "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus."
