Publication: Frontier Times, 1945, Bandera, Texas
First Separate Printing. Quarto. Pictorial Wrappers, cover title, 64 pp., frontis (portrait), plates, double column. Six Guns 91 says, "A separate reprint of a series which ran in the Frontier Times. Aten tells of his efforts to suppress wire cutting and other lawlessness in Texas." Aten served in the Texas Rangers from 1883 to 1889, seeing much action with rustlers and outlaws along the border as well as in west central Texas. He continued his career in law enforcement for another six years as Sheriff in various counties, until becoming the superintendent of the Escarbada Division of the XIT Ranch from 1895 to 1904. Afterwards Aten moved his family to California, where he died in 1953. A fine copy. Very scarce, especially in this condition!
