Jim Kirker was a man of considerable accomplishments. ...He joined Ashley and Henry's trapping expedition up the Missouri River, trapped the Rocky Mountains, rode wagon trains along the Santa Fe Trail, worked a mine in Chihuahua and became a Mexican citizen. He contracted with the Mexican government to lead a punitive expedition against the Apaches. The Mexican government was unable to pay so Kirker joined the Missouri volunteers when the Mexican-American War broke out. Excellent bibliography. Fine, in lightly-rubbed dust jacket.
