A biography of Sarah Jane Creech, better known as "Sadie Orchard, the Belle of the Black Range," mountains of New Mexico. A fascinating story of a lady who had the courage to strike out on her own to find what she wanted; her determination to succeed without fear of what someone else would think; her bravery as a woman when most women were subservient to men. Born in Iowa in 1859, Sadie arrived in Kingston, New Mexico in the 1880s and later resided in Lake Valley and Hillsboro where she died in 1943. Sadie ran brothels, owned a stage line, was a stagecoach driver, and ran a hotel and restaurant. This third printing differs from the first printing because of the addition of pages 103 through 160. The first printing ends at page 102. As new.
