Publication: J B Lippincott Company, 1938, Philadelphia
First U. S. edition. Near fine in a bright and crisp dust jacket with some shallow chipping at top of spine, corners and edges, and a few, small edge tears. A man, lost in a fog, comes upon a house in the English countryside. The house appears to be in darkness but the front door is ajar and he enters in the hope of finding a telephone. His electric torch shows him a girl's white face, eyes wide in a stare of terror, mouth open as if to scream. But she doesn't scream, she comes running, catches him by the arm and says, "Run!"
