Publication: Privately printed, 1930, N P
First edition. 8vo. Original printed stiff wrappers, 24 pp., frontispiece, (portrait of R. B. Masterson in 1930), illustrated. Masterson was born in Alabama in 1853, and his family emigrated to Travis County near present day Manor, Texas in 1854. During the next twenty years he and his family shifted ranching operations westward. In 1881 he built his Long S Ranch in Wheeler County. By the 1890s he was ranching near Amarillo with over 90,000 acres. After World War II, he shifted his interest to petroleum and land speculation. Herd 2030 says "Scarce." In this booklet Masterson tells of the prices of goods and cattle, about an accident while crossing a herd on the swollen Canadian River, he mentions Camp Supply Indian Territory and Dodge City. This booklet is rare today and probably printed in a small edition for family and close friends. This is only the second copy of this item that we have seen. A half-inch closed tear to top edge of rear wrapper, else a clean, tight near fine copy. Neatly signed on front free-endpaper by the daughter of Robert Benjamin Masterson, Peggy Masterson Stinnett.
