Phillip St. George Cooke's detailed report of this early battle between the Sioux and the U.S. Army, within this region. Cooke reports 74 Indians killed, 43 women and children captured, and acknowledge that many women were among the dead. Cooke suffered 12 killed, wounded, and missing. Near fine copy.
