He details the boundaries of Dakota Territory, agricultural resources including the wheat belt, fruit culture, irrigation, mineral resources, climate, health, education, school lands, facilities for travel and transportation, the desire for statehood, etc. He devotes a great deal of commentary to the flood of 1881 in which the spring thaw caused the Missouri River to overflow its banks and cause great devastation. The flooding occurred at a point approximately thirty miles below Yankton. A fine copy bound into an imitation leather binder with titles stamped in gold on the spine.
