Much on Custer, Sitting Bull, Sand Creek, The Black Hills, etc. Red Cloud stood out as one of the greatest of the Sioux leaders as evidenced by the years of heavy conflict, between 1865 and 1877. The destruction of Lieutenant Grattan and his men in 1854; the Fetterman disaster of 1866; and finally the Custer Fight on the Little Big Horn in 1876 reveals the real might of the Sioux. "A superb history of the Oglalas up to 1878, with a chapter on the Great Sioux War of 1876-77 and a summary of the Battle of the Little Big Horn.-O'Keefe 1191. Previous owner's name and a date is written in the upper corner of the front pastedown endpaper, else a nice fine copy. The scarce dust jacket is sunned on the spine and has a few minor chips to spine ends and corners.
