Rare prospectus 23 x 15.5 cm [9" x 6"] for the second edition of the first printed book in Montana. 'Vigilantes' is one of the most celebrated and important works dealing with the early settlement and occupation of the West. Author Dimsdale was the editor of the Virginia City Post, and a participant and eyewitness to the events described. This is the first complete account of the outlaws known as 'Henry Plummer's Road Agent Band.' It recounts this gang's reign of terror in the Montana goldfields. A few tiny nicks, chips and tears to the extremities, else a very good copy of a rare item.
