Mackenzie was given command of the 4th Cavalry Regiment, and so marked the beginning of a series of campaigns and scouts that brought an end to the Indian wars in Texas. Mackenzie's correspondence tells a detailed and important history of the campaigns led by Mackenzie and his men against the Comanches and Kiowas in the harsh lands of the Texas panhandle. An exceptionally fine, bright set in dust jackets.
