Publication: Armour's Livestock Bureau, 1925, Chicago
First edition. 16mo. Pictorial wrappers (etching by Charles Jacque), 142 [2] pp., frontispiece, foreword, illustrated, maps, charts. Wentworth at the time of this publication was Director of Armour's Livestock Bureau. He has four other titles listed in Ramon Adams' Rampaging Herd, but none as early as this one. In this book is discussed the world distribution of sheep, the production of sheep, sheep prices, lamb and mutton consumption, the lamb carcass, types and market classes of sheep, marketing sheep, the position of sheep in agriculture, the breeds of sheep, sheep breeding, the farm flock, range sheep production, feeding market sheep, and wool. An interesting chart provides the number of sheep per 100 population in the United States from 1840 to 1920, on a state by state basis. Not in Adams' Herd, but should be. Minor corner crease to a few early pages, else a near fine copy.
