Publication: The Brace Studio, nd (ca 1890), CANADANDAIGUA
An original, satin-finish photograph. 5.75' x 7.75." Born in 1860, Pawnee Bill moved to Kansas, with family as a young man. Late 1882/early 1883, he began working at the Pawnee Agency, Indian Territory, where he learned the Pawnee language and subsequently served as a translator for the Pawnee Indians that were performing in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Pawnee Bill operated his own Wild West Show in 1888, and again in 1890. Lillie toured with his show for over 20 years, and was in partnership with Buffalo Bill from 1908-1913, when both shows merged. A large, handsome image. A very scarce image taken in Canandaigua, New York ... perhaps taken during his trip to Buffalo, New York when he attended the New York Expo in 1901. An attractive photograph, in very sharp focus, and in Near Fine condition. Protected in 14" x 16" wooden frame. Appears to be the original frame, with some minor damage to frame.
