First edition. Pictorial wrappers, 138 pp., illustrations from old photographs. The author was the wife of Bill Tilghman; buffalo hunter, army scout, and famous lawman. Although Tilghman served as deputy sheriff and City Marshall of Dodge City from 1874 to 1884, this well-written account relates many of his experiences as a lawman in Oklahoma Territory. Bill Tilghman, Heck Thomas and Chris Madsen, were known as "The Three Guardsmen." Together they fought such famous outlaws as The Daltons, The Doolin Gang, The Jennings Gang, and Henry Starr.
