Publication: Unknown, Late 1890's, Guthrie, Oklahoma
Original photographic montage comprised of 8 separate images of Doolin's "Oklahombres". Cabinet Card. Image: 3.875"x5.625". Mount: 4.375"x6.625". Bill Doolin and his gang robbed banks and trains in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas, killing many law officers, as well as citizens. As is shown in these images, many of whom are shown deceased, the law eventually caught up with all of them, but from 1893-1895 they were greatly feared and constantly pursued. Images in the montage are: Bill Dalton, one alive and the other in which he's dead; Bill Doolin, the famous image with his buckshot-blasted chest; "Bitter Creek" Newcomb and Charley Pierce, both dead after their friends the Dunn Brothers turned on them for the reward money; "Red Buck" Weightman, tied to a board and propped-up, dead; "Tulsa Jack" Blake, sporting a black jacket, white shirt, and a silk tie; and "Little Bill" Raidler, captured by Bill Tilghman in October, 1895, and sent to prison... the only one not killed young. The mount has some damage to the right edge and some related light, damp staining to a small portion of the right edge of the image, and a little rubbing to the edges of the mount. Very good. An uncommon Cabinet Card image. Provenance: From the Collection of Robert G. McCubbin.
