While quite a young man he became interested in material culture, and later studied law, ethnology and Sinology at the University and Oriental Seminar of Berlin, at the same time continuing private studies at the Ethnographical Museum on Berlin, where 'Americanistics' were his main pursuit. So intense was his will be learn that he more than once had mentioned that he knew every creek-bend, tree, and rock of the Tlingit country, though he'd never been there." In this booklet Adam, "has described the art style of the North Pacific Coast tribes through studying the specimens at the Berlin Museum. The illustrations are very excellent." Text in German.
