Frontispiece folding map in Vol. I and 8 plates, Map and 10 plates, including Frontispiece in Vol. II. The last of many scholarly works by editor, Elliott Coues. Garces travelled through these regions as a missionary to a number of Indian tribes, undertaking many expeditions for ecclesiastical reasons and in order to establish communications between the settlements of California and New Mexico. The slightest of wear to the corners of both volumes and a very light bump to the upper rear fore-corner of Volume I, else an attractive bright, tight set of this important record of the Southwest.
