First edition. Pseudonym of Lawrence Block. This very scarce book by Lawrence Block under this pseudonym, is the third and final book with that byline and the scarcest. A light ghost of the removal of a sticker on the front pastedown sheet, else fine in a fine, fresh dust jacket with none of the usual soiling or other signs of wear. This is a story based upon an actual incident and is a powerful suspense and murder shocker. The inspiration for this novel is the killing spree of Charles Starkweather and Caril-Ann Fugate across the Midwest in the late 1950's. The front and rear endpapers provide a map of Nebraska and a trip along Route 80 from Grand Island, North Platte, Ogallala, etc., the primary route taken by the couple.
