The first is ETHNOLOGICAL RESULTS OF THE POINT BARROW EXPEDITION by John Murdoch, a naturalist and observer on the International Polar Expedition to Point Barrow, Alaska, 1881-1883. This detailed and important study comprises pages 1-441. The remainder of this volume presents THE MEDICINE-MEN OF THE APACHE by John G. Bourke, Captain Third Cavalry, U.S. Army. Bourke's classic report is comprised of three different sections: Chapter I. The Medicine-Men, Their Modes of Treating Disease, Their Superstitions, Paraphernalia, etc.; Chapter II. Hoddentin, the Pollen of the Tule, the Sacrificial Powder of the Apache: With Remarks Upon Sacred Powders and Offerings in General; and Chapter III. The Izze-kloth or Medicine Cord of the Apache. The color plates are striking, and in fine condition. Minor occasional edgewear, else an exceptionally nice, clean, tight copy of this large volume. Very good-near fine.
