This book has appeared in five states. The first being done in 1899 by Jonathan H. Jones and titled INDIANOLOGY. This is the second version edited by J. Marvin Hunter and published 28 years later, states that Hunter knew Lehmann well for more than thirty-five years; he further acknowledges the Jones version, but states that his version is more nearly "a true recital of facts" which "were related to me by the ex-captive, who, at this date, May 28, 1927, is with me and telling me of his harrowing and hair-raising experiences." Basic Texas Books 124 says, "One of the most remarkable accounts of life among hostile Texas Indians, this is also one of the few surviving accounts of life in 19th century Texas from the Indian point of view." Light offsetting to front and rear endpapers, else fine in original unprinted dust jacket with minor wear to the spine ends.
