First edition of this memoir reproducing the day-to-day logbook of the Steamship Dolphin which after being built at W.& A. Fletcher Co. of Hoboken, New Jersey, and outfitted, was sailed around Cape Horn, to Seattle, and then Northward to Alaska. The original ship’s log was presented to President Roosevelt in 1943 for his museum and library at Hyde Park, New York. Also featured is information beginning on page 62 - 80 from John Muir’s "Travels in Alaska "(1915). From the library of former California State Librarian, Gary Kurutz. Minor rubbing to spine ends and corners else a near fine bright copy.
