Edited by E. A. Brininstool. With an introduction by William S. Hart. The author of this remarkable book is an hereditary Chief of the Oglala Tribe of the Sioux Nation. He was also one of the first Indians to enter the Carlisle School. He tells of the games of his childhood, the sports of the older boys and girls, the building of the tipi, and tribal life, the buffalo hunt and the warpath, his experiences while at Carlisle, as a teacher and leader of his people. He also tells of his trip to England as a member of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. He provides a brief account of the Custer Fight, the death of Crazy Horse, the Ghost Dance of the 1890's, the Battle of Wounded Knee, etc. Former owner's inked name at top of front free fly leaf, else a near fine, tight copy in a dust jacket with light wear to the spine ends, corners, and extremities. An attractive copy.
