Beginning in Vera Cruz in 1853 and to Jalapa, Puebla, Cholula, Mexico City, Acapulco much is provided as to customs and religion including ecclesiastical costumes, local history and the eventual affect of the Inquisition. A trip to Mount Popocatapetl is described including the view from there. Much on silver, mines, a proposed Pacific railroad, Mormon influence in Mexico, etc. Former owners bookplate on front pastedown sheet, stain to both front and rear free fly leaf, binding a little shaken but strong and holding, light wear to the spine ends and corners, else a good clean copy.
