First edition. Stiff pictorial wrappers, 72 pp., illustrations, notes, bibliography. An excellent biography of this important Apache Wars scout of the 1860's & 1870's. Among the most remarkable scouts in Arizona territory history, Merejildo Grijalva was captured by Chiricahua Apaches in 1849 and lived a decade among the people of such renowned leaders as Miquel Narbona, Mangas Coloradas, and Cochise. He escaped in 1859 and played such a crucial role in the Apache campaigns that one commander claimed he would rather lose twenty men than lose Grijalva. A fine copy. Signed by the author.
