First Edition. Original Printed Yellow Wrappers. 26pp. Preface. In March, 1867, while working with a neighbor, Ole Nystel was captured by Comanche Indians. After 3 months of captivity he was ransomed to a trader in Kansas for $250 in trade goods. Colonel Leavenworth reimbursed the trader and sent Ole back home to Texas. Nystel relates much about his captivity and the customs of the Indians, as well as, the large part that providence played in his experience. This copy has the tipped-in slip listing 13 citizens of Basque County, Texas who attest to the accuracy of Nystel's narrative: "We believe the facts stated by him(Nystel) to be strictly true"..."I was living in Bosque County...and am familiar with the circumstances of the capture"...I was living here at the time and know the above to be true". Some light dampstaining to the bottom edge of the front wrapper and the first few pages. Diagonal crease to front wrapper and some very minor soiling. Not in Eberstadt, Decker, Ayer. A very good copy in original wrappers. Protected in a custom chemise and Quarter Leather slipcase, with title, author, place and year of publication.
