Cloth with the book's cover a color picture pasted to the front cover, as originally issued, front and rear endpapers depict a chase scene done in full color, xi [3], 431 [3] pp., illustrated with 98 black & white drawings and 8 full color pictures including the frontispiece all by the author. A splendid and rare copy of this popular author's autobiography. A fine, bright and tight copy with the rare original transparent glassine wrapper with the two paper flap folds present, one detached and laid-in. This copy is housed in the original presentation carton which has the front cover designed label pasted-on and it has a bit of light wear to the edges but is solid and strong.This first state edition, complete as issued by the publisher, is the most difficult item for a collector to obtain, if ever as we know of only two other copies in private collections. You may find another copy as fine as this one, but none better.
