First edition. Unprinted tan wrappers, n. p. (36 pp.), double column. Originally published serially in 1914-1915 in the weekly Kansan. Contains 20 articles about Reynolds as published in the Potter Weekly Kansan. This little book contains much information on Reynolds, who was killed at the Little Bighorn. Charley Reynolds was a noted plainsman. General Sheridan chose Charley to help entertain Grand Duke Alexis on his hunting trip on the plains in 1872. Reynolds scouted for Brig. Gen. David S. Stanley's Yellowstone expeditions in 1872 and 1873. He guided Custer's expedition to the Black Hills in 1874. He carried the dispatches to Fort Laramie which reported the discovery of gold. Reynolds died at the Battle of the Little Bighorn during Reno's retreat from the valley, across the river, and up the bluffs. An excellent biography. A very good copy of a rare report on the famous scout and guide. Housed in a quarter leather and marbled paper 4 point clamshell case with titles stamped in gilt on the spine.
